F.O.I.P. - Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy

Alberta's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) affects every individual who has a relationship with Medicine Hat College. Although there are many technical details, the purpose of the Act is described well in the name. Medicine Hat College will provide open access to information about the institution, our policies and procedures and other details as may be required. An individual is also entitled to access the records we may maintain about them. At the same time, the privacy provisions of the Act require that Medicine Hat College does not disclose information about individuals without their permission. While working within the provision of the Act may require some additional work and time, it is a small price to pay for the assurance that personal information is protected, and to provide accountability with access to institutional records.
