Description

Medicine Hat College is seeking a community program navigator to develop and maintain community partnerships that support the recruitment of adult foundational learners in Bow Island, Foremost and the County of 40 Mile. This is a part-time contract position beginning September 3, 2019 to June 30, 2020 with the opportunity for renewal in September 2020. 

 

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Regional Stewardship and working in conjunction with the program coordinator, this position will be responsible for identifying new literacy-based initiatives and community partnerships. Activities also include determining community needs for literacy program development, collaborating with program staff in the creation of literacy programs for learners, and the recruitment/referral of qualified learners. Preferably, this position may be combined with one of two Language and Literacy Development Facilitator positions. 

 

Qualifications

  • A post-secondary degree/diploma and training in adult literacy development or English language learning
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • A strong understanding of adults as learners and familiarity with literacy content
  • The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills as well as proficiency in computer skills
  • A class 5 drivers’ license and reliable vehicle to travel regularly within the County of 40 Mile

 

Employment Details 

Hours of Work: Up to 12 hours per week

Wage Rate: $24.00 gross per hour
