Medicine Hat College is seeking two childcare workers to provide basic childcare services in Bow Island while parents are participating in literacy tutoring and/or group instruction to adult Albertans improving their literacy skills. This is a part-time contract position beginning October 1, 2019 to June 12, 2020 with the opportunity for renewal in September 2020.



Reporting to the Program Coordinator, this position will be responsible for implementing programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and language/social development of children by engaging them in activities as well as liaising between children and parents who are participating in County 40 Mile program activities. Additional activities include maintaining children’s equipment and resources, assisting in housekeeping duties, submitting written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors when requested, and attending staff meetings to discuss progress and challenges of children.



  • 5 years childcare experience
  • Preference will be given to those with First Aid and post-secondary certificate/diploma in Early Childhood Education
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills


Employment Details 

Hours of Work: Up to 7 hours per week

Wage Rate: $16.00 gross per hour
