Watch students battle for start up funds

Come watch budding MHC student entrepreneurs pitch their business startup ideas at the MHC Start Up Company Pitch Competition, a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style public event at Medicine Hat College on May 16, 2018.

The MHC Start Up Company Pitch Competition will see entrepreneurs, inventors and innovators pitch their new venture ideas to an esteemed panel of local business professionals and compete for their share of over $30,000 in grants thanks to the RBC Foundation, cash prizes thanks to AB Innovates and mentorship thanks to JMH&CO.

This exciting afternoon event will include a keynote presentation by 2017 Pitch Competition Winner, Patrick Tolchard of Valley Zipline, inspiring business pitches and cash award announcements. The audience will cast their vote on the winner of the ‘People’s Choice’ award winner via live online voting.

Entrepreneur: Beth Lewis, business student

About Rustic Rose: Rustic Rose was founded in 2015 after owner Beth Lewis found a gap in the market for handmade, affordable western jewelry. Rustic Rose has been making a name for itself across North America selling jewelry at various retail stores, tradeshows, markets and sponsoring jewelry for numerous rodeo royalty programs. June of 2018 will see Rustic Rose expand from jewelry into apparel as Beth launches her own clothing line. The clothing will continue to be western inspired as it will be made for farmers, ranchers and rodeoers alike.

 
  

Fandom Themed Cafe
Entrepreneur: Cleodel Capiral, business student

About Cafe: This fandom themed cafe aims to sell fan merchandise. Alongside the merchandise they will be providing themed menus with the aim to promote a unique experience to their clients.

 
  

T.R.A.D. Worms
Entrepreneur: Roxanne Doerksen, environmental reclamation technician student

About T.R.A.D: T.R.A.D. Worms, is raising a community of worms that produce worm poop, better knows as castings. Castings are used by the agricultural community to enrich soil for better, bigger and more robust plants.
