Colleen Whidden is an instructor in the Medicine Hat College Education division. She holds a doctorate degree in Choral Music Education from the University of Calgary and spent six years at this university directing choirs, musical theatre, and teaching music education courses.
Colleen is passionate about the arts and she was most recently awarded the Patricia Cook Memorial Award for arts advocacy in Alberta and the U Make A Difference Award from the University of Calgary. She has presented her academic research on the adult non-singer at national and international conferences in San Diego, Beijing, and Glasgow. She is an active adjudicator and clinician in Western Canada and has toured extensively as a choral conductor with the Youth Singers of Calgary.
Colleen is happy to have this opportunity to work with the MHC Adult Choir and looks forward to a year of creating choral music together.
