Cameron Girling has a Diploma in Performance of Jazz and Contemporary Music from MacEwan University, and a Bachelor of Arts (Music) from the University of Lethbridge. He studied drumset, orchestral percussion, world percussion, and highland pipes and drums percussion.
Cam has had private study with Brian Thurgood and Adam Mason, and has done numerous clinics with world renowned percussionists such as John Wooten, Tracy Thornton, J.R. Robinson, and more. Through various bands and ensembles, Cam has performed in England, Japan, and many parts of the USA, including the Firefighters Memorial in Colorado Springs. From being lead tip in a highland band, playing rhythm in world percussion, on stage with Joan Rivers, to multiple sessions of both rock and classical performances, Cam has focused on having a broad experience in music.
Cam teaches privately, performs in various bands and events, and is active in developing the live music community. As of 2019, he has undertaken the director role of the MHC Rattlers Strike! Drumline. Cam has a passion for music, community, and the value of music as an essential part of education.
