Registration for Private Studio Lessons

New Students who require placement for private studio music lessons should first connect with Stephanie at the MHC Conservatory Office.   2. MEET THE INSTRUCTOR: During this meeting, you will confirm the following details:
    • A mutually convenient lesson time (day of the week, daytime or evenings)
    • Lesson duration (30, 45 or 60 minutes)
    • Start and end dates

  3. SCHEDULE YOUR LESSON: Students/Parents must complete and sign the MHC Conservatory Registration form and submit to Stephanie at the MHC Conservatory Office for confirmation of registration.

    Full Year: September - June
    Pre-registration opens June 1 and closes August 31
    Registration opens August 4

    Fall Semester: September - December
    Pre-registration opens June 1 and closes August 31
    Registration opens August 4

    Winter/Spring Semester: January - June
    Registration opens November 1

    Summer Semester (pending instructors): July and August
    Registration opens May 1


Lesson Payment Schedule

Private Studio, Academy and Theory Lessons

  • A $110.00 registration deposit is required at time of registration to secure placement. The deposit will be credited to the overall balance owing.
  • Fees for all MHC Conservatory non-credit courses are charged per semester, payable in full and due during the 1st week of classes of the current semester.
  • For students registered for the Full Year Semester (September – June):
    • 1 Payment (50% of full tuition) is due during the 1st week of classes of the Fall Semester
    • 2 Payment (remaining 50% of full tuition) is due during the 1st week of classes of the Winter/Spring semester
  • Failure to make the first payment may result in withdrawal from classes and forfeit of the $110.00 registration deposit.
  • Registration will not be permitted when previous fees are outstanding.


Withdrawal Policy and Dates

  • To avoid requests for refunds, please ensure you can fully commit to the program before you register.
  • If you have to withdraw from lessons, refunds are based on the date a signed withdrawal form is submitted to MHC Registration Services.
  • All requests for cancellations must be received in writing to the Director, Continuing Studies, MHC Conservatory (Attention: Cathy Crockford – ccrockford@mhc.ab.ca)

Private Studio/Academy/Theory

Private lessons will be refunded as follows:

  • The instructor will be asked to confirm how many lessons (received and missed/forfeited) have taken place. You will then be refunded the remaining balance, LESS an additional 4 lessons that will be deducted from the total refund owing (roughly an additional month of lessons).
  • Example: If you pay for 30 lessons, and you have taken 4 and missed 1, your refund will be: 30 - 5 - 4 = 21 lessons refunded.
  • A tuition refund will be issued less a $50 processing fee.
