September 17, 2014

Medicine Hat College (MHC) is pleased to announce that Irlanda Price has been selected for the newly developed role of associate vice-president of student development.

Reporting to Dr. Len Vandervaart, vice-president academic, this role will provide direction and leadership to student development programming, the registrar’s office and student services.

“During the hiring process, Irlanda proved that she is committed to shared leadership and student support; she is an individual who has practiced within an Appreciate Inquiry framework and demonstrated that she is bringing a professional aptitude that will be beneficial to the college as we move forward,” explains Dr. Vandervaart.

Price comes to MHC from Northwest Community College (NWCC) where she served as the manager of student development. Within the institution she held various roles including campus manager, educational advisor and instructor of the social service worker program.

“Irlanda has strong experience at NWCC where she worked with Dr. Denise Henning, so we are confident in her capacity for this role and are excited to have her as part of the team,” explains Vandervaart.

Price holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), an institution where she also studied and attained a Bachelor of Social Work.

She has experience working in an environment with multiple campuses and has served on various committees including the Strategic Enrolment Management Committee at NWCC where she was chair. Through her work in post-secondary education she has a strong network of colleagues from throughout Canada and the United States.

Price’s role at the college will commence mid October 2014.
