Over 50 companies will be on hand at Medicine Hat College’s annual job fair next week, all looking to fill upcoming employment opportunities. The fair takes place on Wednesday, February 27 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
MHC’s Centennial Hall foyer and B-Wing (near Vera Bracken library) hallway will be filled with employer booths looking to hire the right candidates. Companies at the job fair are looking to fill positions for various summer and permanent opportunities. All members of the community are welcome to attend the job fair.
“This is a great way to start the search for summer positions,” said Shelly Drefs, student career services assistant. “Companies are looking for both seasonal and permanent employees, and there will be many positions to apply for on site.”
Companies representing a wide-range of fields will be represented. Job opportunities include positions in business administration, retail, health and human services, police and security, administrative, food service, summer, recreational, trades, oilfield, government, communications, finance, child care, science, and technology. A few career-related service providers, post-secondary partners, and professional organizations will also have booths set up to answer any questions from attendees.
Drefs suggests jobseekers bring several paper copies of their resumes and dress as they would for an interview.
“In the past we have had many students and members of the public walking away from the event with positions,” she said. “Therefore we suggest that they be prepared to make a positive first impression.”
