Medicine Hat College to host first annual Pathways Gala
April 11, 2016
Medicine Hat College is inviting the community to celebrate its 50th anniversary at the first annual Pathways Gala on Saturday, June 4, 2016.
The event will celebrate the past 50 years of students and education through displays, and MHC representatives and students will share with guests both how education changes lives, and where the institution is headed in the future. The gala will also include recognition of the college’s student of the year, instructor of the year, and honorary degree recipients – all of whom will have received their awards at the spring convocation ceremonies the previous day.
“The Pathways Gala is our opportunity to celebrate 50 years of post-secondary education in our region,” says Denise Henning, president and CEO of Medicine Hat College. “We look forward to welcoming community members on campus, and sharing our vision for a bright, sustainable future.”
Proceeds from the gala tickets sales will support the Pathways Student Life Enhancement Fund, an endowment intended to bridge the gap between the desire to attend college, and the means to do so. This flexible fund differs from financial aid, in that students do not need to repay any funds they receive from it. And unlike scholarships and bursaries that are aligned to specific criteria, the funds will be distributed based on student need.
Guests of the gala can look forward to an elegant evening that includes a cocktail reception and dinner on campus. Tickets can be purchased for $100 each, $175 for a pair, and $675 for a table of eight. Full details are available at mhc.ab.ca/pathwaysgala and tickets are available to purchase at tixx.ca.
