“Twitchy” is coming to town

February 10, 2016

Audiences across southeast Alberta are preparing to be “positively traumatized” with the arrival of Stuart Ellis-Myers, a.k.a “Twitchy”, a world renowned keynote speaker and alumnus of Medicine Hat College.

Since the age of nine, Ellis-Myers has “suffered” from Tourette’s syndrome. Faced with the prospect of a lifetime of frustration and isolation, he instead chose to make his life into something remarkable. Despite his handicap, he became an internationally acclaimed speaker on community leadership, sales, and customer relationship management practices. Now he is bringing his insight back to Medicine Hat and surrounding communities to help others overcome their own challenges and fears to find success.

Twitchy was initially approached by Tourism Medicine Hat to support local area businesses interested in increasing their online presence, but it was quickly recognized his remarkable story is relevant for a variety of audiences.  He will be sharing his “Triple Trip Advisor” presentation in the communities of Brooks, Medicine Hat and Taber, as well as “Corporate Recruiter Secrets Revealed” at Medicine Hat College and “Viva La Volunteer” at Medicine Hat Public Library.

“Community Futures Entre-Corp is delighted to be a partner in bringing Twitchy to our region,” says Sean Blewett, general manager. “Not only will these presentations provide an excellent opportunity for businesses to learn how to leverage online platforms like TripAdvisor, they will also inspire participants with Twitchy’s personal message of struggle and achievement.”

Blewett adds that Twitchy’s story of success also helps bring awareness to what is possible for those living with disabilities and the support services available.

“Community Futures is proud to offer an entrepreneurship program for people living with disabilities to help remove barriers and assist them in achieving their full potential. Twitchy’s own experiences are a shining example of how the right attitude can change everything.”
