Jazz enthusiasts are invited to Medicine Hat College’s One on One Gallery on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 3 p.m. for a special concert featuring Lyle Rebbeck and Friends. This event is the first in the Conservatory Concert Series which looks to connect with the community on a new level and showcase the diverse musical talent of conservatory instructors.
To launch the series this weekend, Rebbeck will be joined by Rick Lett and Ray Martens to perform music by George Gershwin, Oscar Hammerstein as well as original scores. There will also be classic tunes made famous by such artists as Nat King Cole, Fred Astaire, Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald. The concert will take place in the One on One Gallery located at the Cultural Centre where guests will have the opportunity to take in the current art exhibit featuring works by college visual communications faculty.
Future concert series performances will include the Oberon Guitar Trio on Nov. 20 and guest instructors/artists in residence, Julia Haager, piano, and Kirill Kalmykov, cello, on Jan. 29. In Spring 2017, the conservatory is pleased to welcome back alumnus instructor, pianist and composer, Peter Jancewicz.
