MHC opens up Business Person of the Year nomination process early

September 22, 2016

The nomination process for Medicine Hat College’s (MHC) Business Person of the Year Award is now open until Friday, January 27, 2017.

The criteria focuses on finding an individual who resides or operates a business in southern Alberta; demonstrates a strong character and integrity through their success; has positively impacted the lives of others, including but not limited to: mentoring, supporting local programs, supporting local events and charities and sitting on boards; as well as displays substantiated experience as an established future-focused business.

“Our past recipients have inspired our students, reminded us of the power of education and the doors it can open, and shared their stories and journey to demonstrate that nothing is impossible if you have passion, surround yourself with the right people and work hard,” says Terry Chapman, dean for the Division of Arts, Education and Business and member of the selection committee.  “We are seeking a dynamic individual who will leave attendees with advice they can use and an eagerness to achieve.”

Chapman explains that this year’s nomination process was opened early to ensure that people were provided more time to put forward names.

“Last year we really focused on refreshing the process to make it easier for our community to nominate individuals. This year, we opened it up earlier with the hopes that by providing people more time to ponder we’d continue to see an increase in qualified nominations,” says Chapman.

The Business Person of the Year will be receive their award and have an opportunity to speak at the Connecting Students to Business Dinner on March 30, 2017. For event details and to purchase your tickets visit www.mhc.ab.ca/connectingstudents.
