College kicks off online competition between local high schools
April 12, 2022
In an effort to support high school students as they consider their futures, Medicine Hat College (MHC) launched a friendly online competition this week between school districts to challenge their knowledge of post-secondary education.
“The Medicine Hat College ChatterHigh competition is an opportunity for students in our local schools to compete for fame and fortune in pursuit of the ‘most informed students’ title,” explains student recruitment coordinator, Landon Heilman. “Students compete by completing the online daily quiz, which is comprised of 10 questions about education and career options after high school. The more daily quizzes students complete, the more points they get towards their school’s tally.”
Invited to participate in the competition are students and schools in Grasslands Public Schools, Christ the Redeemer School Division, Medicine Hat School Division, Medicine Hat Catholic School Division and Prairie Rose School Division. There is a $1,500 prize pot up for grabs, which will be distributed among the top three schools.
This initiative provides a fun and fresh approach that helps students understand the post-secondary system, supports their decision-making process, and benefits the schools with cash prizes, adds Heilman. “The students win by becoming more informed about their education and career options after high school, while the prize money awarded to top schools can be put towards a purpose or cause of their choice, like a graduation committee fund or other events that positively impact students.”
The Medicine Hat College ChatterHigh competition is on now until May 20.
