Introduction to Natural Resource Law
This course is an introduction to the Canadian legal system and sources of environmental law. The evolution and creation of law with a direct focus on the role of resource law enforcement in resource management are examined. The fundamental principles of the Canadian judicial system, trials, sentencing, appeals and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms are also reviewed. Selected provincial and federal environmental laws that regulate air, contaminated land, waste and wildlife are addressed. Officer, directors, corporate liability, and common defences are examined.
