Fundamental Skills in Counselling
Introduction to individual counselling with an emphasis on theacquisition and practical application of therapeutic communication. Characteristics and strategies of person centered and strength based approaches are explored in assisting clients within a professional helping relationship. Experiential learning opportunities are provided, as counselling theory is integrated into practice. Reflection on the impact of ones values, beliefs, and ethical standards will also be explored.
Prerequisite: A minimum of a C grade in CYCC 111 & IDST 100
