What is a chaplain?
A chaplain is a spiritual guide and support, primarily to students, but also to staff and faculty. Your chaplain will engage with any member of the college community in confidentiality, accepting their pre-existing spiritual values and beliefs while encouraging further spiritual thought and growth.
What does the chaplain do at Medicine Hat College?
Your chaplain is employed independently of the college, while collaborating with the college executive, the Student Supports team, the Faculty Association, and the Students' Association, with the goal of enhanced quality of life for everyone on campus.
What services might the chaplain provide?
Support to students of all faiths, international students, faculty and staff having difficulty with:
- Questions about spirituality and world religions
- Being human in a difficult world and needing to talk about it
Your chaplain can provide (subject to facility availability):
- Pastoral counselling
- Briefings/lectures to classrooms
- Worship and prayer services
- Spiritual Retreats.
