The Métis Scholar Awards program provides financial support for full-time students in years one to three of a certificate, diploma or undergraduate degree program. Financial assistance for Métis students in the final two semesters is available via the Rupertsland Institute Higher Learning Completion Program.

To qualify for a Métis Scholar Award, applicants must meet the criteria of both the Métis Education Foundation (Métis Scholar Awards criteria) and Medicine Hat College.

Email supporting documentation to finaidinfo@mhc.ab.ca prior to the application deadline with “Métis Scholar Award“ in the subject line. Please include your name and Medicine Hat College student ID number.

Applicants must show proof of Métis ancestry by submitting a copy of ONE of the following:

A current citizenship card from the Métis Nation of Alberta (MNA); or,

A verifiable Métis citizenship application that is in progress with Métis Nation of Alberta Registry;

A current citizenship card from the Métis National Council Governing members (Métis Nation British Columbia, Métis Nation – Saskatchewan or Métis Nation of Ontario)
