Medicine Hat College invites applications for a full time, regular Food Services Coordinator.
A little about the role:
Reporting to the Manager, Hospitality and Conference Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for the leadership, coordination and daily operation for all food & beverage services & locations at Medicine Hat College. Duties include, but are not limited to, inventory management, maintaining supplier relations, ordering all food and supplies, menu planning, costing & profitability of individual food service locations and utilizing loss prevention practices. Establishing employee schedules, monitoring attendance, establishing procedural standards, providing and coordinating training, participating in hiring and employee onboarding are included in the duties.
Operating in a best practice setting of coaching, mentoring, and supporting the team, this position will ensure the food services team functions effectively in a fast-paced environment, providing ongoing oversight of performance, problem solving and general mediation. In serving our community, this position will work with customers and external parties, in planning and organizing all catered events on campus. This position will also ensure best practice for food safety, enforcing food safety & sanitation regulations, performing regular inspection of service and preparation premises and equipment for cleaning and maintenance, coordination and delegation of regular preventative maintenance and contracted services.

- Food Safety and Sanitation certificate
- Pro-Serve certification
- Minimum of 10 years progressive and directly related experience with commercial or institutional food services and operations
- Experience with various food service equipment (commercial or institutional)
- Minimum of two years’ experience supervising team members to the completion of their tasks
- Knowledge and/or certification in HACCAP; Food Sanitation & Safety Standards; EBH Food Safety Regulations; HACCAP & WHMIS standards
- Demonstrated decision making, time management and team building skills
- A combination of education and experience may be considered
Hours Per Week: 35 hours per week
Pay Rate: $28.28 per hour (Start Rate); $31.60 per hour (Job Rate)
