Medicine Hat College is excited to invite applications for a rewarding opportunity as a full-time instructor in our Social Work Diploma program. This is a full-time position commencing July 2024. Subject to successful completion of a two-year probationary period, this position will be a continuous appointment in the School of Health & Community Services.
A little about the role:
The Medicine Hat College Social Work Diploma is a generalist credential, and the successful candidate will be able to share their knowledge and expertise with our students in both onsite in-person and online delivery instruction for a range of courses pertaining to social work practice.
Responsibilities include preparing for and instructing assigned classes, practicum supervision, contributing to ongoing program review and development, and other faculty duties as assigned. The instructor will work as a member of the instructional team in preparing and guiding students to become professionals in the Social Work profession as well as contributing as a faculty member in the School of Health and Community Services. Faculty will also engage in all aspects of student and program success, including but not limited to, participating in program and college meetings and committees, curriculum development, and scholarly activity. Experience in on-line and face to face formats would be an asset.

Details:
- Master’s degree in Social Work
- Registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers
- Five years’ experience in the Social Work field
- Previous teaching experience is preferred
- Experience in leadership roles is preferred
- Research experience is preferred
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and a deep understanding of their unique challenges and perspectives is preferred
- Having scholarship and /or experience in the promotion of Traditional Knowledge, Indigenous philosophies and methodologies is preferred
- Willingness to be part of a dynamic and collaborative team that focuses on student success and has a positive, appreciative and enthusiastic personality
- Strong communication skills and computer literacy
