Medicine Hat College’s School of Health & Community Services invites applications for an Instructor in our Criminal Justice program. This is a full-time position starting as soon as possible and subject to successful completion of a two-year probationary period, the position will be a continuous appointment.
A little about the role:
The Criminal Justice program is a comprehensive two-year diploma granting program designed to prepare students seeking criminal justice careers. The program specifically covers such areas as criminal law, the court system, corrections, the administration of justice, analysis of criminal justice careers, understanding the challenges facing criminal justice professions, ethical standards of criminal justice professionals and Leadership in the criminal justice field.
The successful candidate will also be required to engage in a variety of professional responsibilities and contribute to a collaborative environment that fosters the mission of the college and the success of our students.
Details:
- Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, justice studies, police sciences, forensics, law enforcement or another related field may be acceptable; Master’s degree is an asset
- An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered
- 5 years working within the legal community, or a criminal justice career with demonstrated increasing levels of responsibility
- Teaching experience in a post-secondary environment and policing expertise is an asset
- Strong communication skills and computer literacy

Degrees conferred outside of Canada must be accredited by the Province of Alberta, International Qualification Assessment Service, Alberta Advanced Education and Technology, in order to be valid and recognized by Medicine Hat College.
