In partnership with the C4i, Kinetisense is collecting normative data to advance their marker-less motion capture system. Normative data provides a foundation for understanding movement patterns across diverse populations, identifying trends, and establishing best practices. AI algorithms can leverage this data to learn from a wide range of movement patterns and contribute to the development of more accurate models and predictions.

Kinetisense, a Medicine Hat-based technology company, developed the world’s first patented marker-less motion capture system, to be used with the Temi Robot for the Tele-rehab 2.0 system. While the University of Alberta has been involved with the research for many years, Kinetisense partnered with Medicine Hat College in 2022 to access local lab space in its Centre for Innovation.
The partnership with Kinetisense provides real world learning for students and applied research opportunities for faculty.
Kinesiology is the study of movement. Thanks to the work being done in C4i, students taking kinesiology courses at MHC are able to work with Kinetisense’s motion capture system to better understand the body’s posture, balance and alignment and apply that data to their education.
