Began teaching at MHC: 2009
Dr. Alannah Maurer was born and raised in Medicine Hat. She completed high school at Medicine Hat High School and started her post-secondary education at Medicine Hat College. After completing her doctorate degree at the University of Calgary, she returned home to teach at MHC. She has been enjoying teaching, as well as the hot summers and mild winters of Medicine Hat since 2009.
Dr. Maurer especially loves teaching nutrition and human physiology, as most of her academic career has focused on these subjects. She enjoys the smaller class sizes found at MHC as students are more able to interact with their professors and fellow students. She also enjoys that her classes are diverse, as students from many different programs will take her classes together.
Dr. Maurer is interested in research related to nutrient intakes in college students and is currently looking at potential differences in nutrient intakes related to the recent pandemic.
Dr. Maurer loves to travel and will often bring interesting stories of her travels to her classes.
