I am an enthusiastic and dedicated faculty member with a deep passion for wildlife, science, and the great outdoors. I believe myself to be quite easygoing and I wish to create a positive and engaging learning environment that fosters open discussions and encourages curiosity. I am committed to instilling a love and appreciation for the natural world in my students, using real-life examples, and hands-on experiences (and maybe a pun or two) to bring scientific concepts to life. I believe in creating a supportive and inclusive classroom where students feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and ideas.
I truly value my experience at MHC - as a former student and now as an instructor. Our class sizes are smaller so you get more hands-on training and one-on-one time with your instructor while still gaining experience from our dedicated faculty. We are fortunate to have a college located in such a unique geographical area of the world and I love taking students out into the field for practical experience.
My background is primarily in wildlife ecology - focusing on species-at-risk monitoring and modeling in the beautiful grasslands of Alberta and Saskatchewan. I have spent the last 10 years working with a variety of critters (from rattlesnakes to burrowing owl and swift fox).
Outside of teaching, I am a practitioner of aerial acrobatics and you can find me climbing through the air and testing the laws of gravity. I hope this reflects my adventurous spirit and serves as a reminder to my students of the importance of pushing boundaries and embracing new challenges.
I am dedicated to providing guidance and support to help students thrive academically and personally. Whether you are interested in animals, ecosystems, or just learning something new about the world around us, I would love to have you in my classes!
