I am Xena, and I am a Master of Education: Counselling Psychology Practicum Student from the University of Lethbridge. I have previous experience in mental health support via previous volunteer work with the Lethbridge Police Service Victim/Witness Services, and through experiences at Alberta Health Services in Inpatient Psychiatric Services. I am still evolving my theoretical approach and style to counselling – but I typically borrow modalities from cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, and acceptance-and-commitment therapy. I aim to support students as they navigate their academic challenges, as well as their other non-academic stressors. As I further progress on my educational journey towards becoming a counsellor, I am looking forward to the growth that lies ahead and interacting with the student body at Medicine Hat College!
