Medicine Hat College invites applications from full-time, regular, non-probationary faculty for a Department Chair, Trades & Technology. The Chair will work in collaboration with the Dean and School to establish and implement program, school, and divisional goals and objectives and ensure alignment with college goals and objectives.
This position is important in divisional planning and goal setting. It is also instrumental in managing the work of faculty and staff in the department including, but not limited to, recruitment and retention of staff and students, teaching and learning, training, development, succession planning, orientation, mentoring, team building, addressing issues, monitoring academic performance and success of students, completing performance evaluations and providing day-to-day leadership. This position will also consult with faculty to ensure program currency and integrity of content and delivery, making recommendations and providing assistance, as needed.
- Full-time Regular, Non-Probationary faculty (normally from within the School)
- Minimum Master’s degree (or equivalent work experience) in a related field
- Demonstrated strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
- The ability to work collaboratively and make positive contributions as a team member, maintain confidentiality, and be able to manage sensitive situations
- A commitment to student success
