Stage is set for Gala 2011
Conservatory of Music and Dance prepares for annual arts celebration
January 17, 2011
Exceptional local talent will be on display February 5th as the faculty of the Medicine Hat College Conservatory of Music and Dance take the stage for the 2011 Gala.
The event offers a unique opportunity to celebrate the arts in our community and experience a collaboration of various music and dance styles performed by conservatory instructors.
The tradition of an annual conservatory concert started in the 1990s as a means to raise money for the Conservatory Endowment Fund. In addition to ticket sales, money is also raised through a silent auction. All proceeds from the evening will go to the “Set the Stage for Life” campaign, which assists the conservatory by providing students with scholarships, enhancing programs and funding performances in our community.
The “Set the Stage for Life” campaign will also benefit from a raffle at this year’s Gala. The prize includes airfare for two and a one-week stay in a penthouse suite in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico. Tickets are $20 each or three for $40 and are available at the Cultural Centre, in the Medicine Hat College advancement office, or by calling (403) 529-3880. Tickets will also be available at the Gala during the cocktail hour. The raffle winner will be drawn at Gala intermission and need not be present to win.
Gala evening begins with cocktails and a silent auction at 6:30 PM. The concert begins at 7:30 PM, with the close of the silent auction and reception to follow. Tickets are $40 each and are available at the Cultural Centre or by calling (403) 529-3880.
