Attendees of Medicine Hat College’s upcoming annual job fair can look forward to several services, including face time with employers looking to hire and resume-building assistance. The fair takes place Wednesday, March 16 from 11 AM – 4 PM.
Over 30 employers will be on hand in the B-Wing (near Vera Bracken library) hallway looking for employees to fill available positions for summer, part-time and full-time opportunities. Community Employment Services (CES) will also be at the fair to assist people looking for work.
"CES will help people with interview tips, job search strategy and networking skills," said Stuart Riley,
student finance and employment coordinator. "They will also have an ‘Ask the Expert’ booth where they will offer rapid resume review, giving quick tips to those looking to improve the look of their resume."
Riley suggests attendees bring several paper copies of their resumes and dress as they would for an interview.
"In the past we have had many students and members of the public walking away from the event with positions," he said. "Therefore we suggest that they dress appropriately."
Additionally, the advising and recruitment office at MHC will host a back-to-school workshop from 1-2:30 PM for those who have been out of school for some time but are interested in coming back. Attendees can learn about upgrading options, explore programs and courses and inquire about financial aid. Those interested in attending this session are asked to preregister by calling (403) 529-3819.
The City of Medicine Hat is contributing bus passes for all job seekers attending the fair. These complimentary passes can be obtained by visiting YouthWORKS or CES.
