Amazing Families, Amazing Children

Renowned educator Bill Gordon will be at Medicine Hat College on Sunday, May 6 to share his message on empowering families to positive mental health and happy social environments.

The event “Amazing Families, Amazing Children” is being presented free of charge in the college theatre from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a community and family resource fair starting at 6:00 p.m.

Gordon will share his view on the top ten qualities of positive family climates and encourage participants to celebrate their own unique and amazing qualities.

“Gordon has spent his career educating and encouraging families,” said Katrina Lehenbauer, Healthy School Facilitator with MHC’s Be Fit For Life Centre. “Families will leave his presentation feeling invigorated and revitalized.”

The event will also be live streamed to the MHC Brooks campus as well, with free admission in the lecture theatre.

Gordon is a teacher and counsellor with Elk Island Public Schools. His volunteer experience includes serving on the board of the Alberta Coalition for Healthy School Communities (ACHSC) since 1994 and acting as its representative on the Alberta Wellness Fund Grant Review Committee.

He is a former recipient of the Alberta Teachers’ Association award for outstanding school counsellor in Alberta and is actively involved in the promotion of comprehensive school health. He is a former writer of curriculum materials and a conference presenter on topics such as the power of kindness, positive school or organizational climate, leadership, and outstanding families.   

No tickets or reservations are necessary for the presentation. The event is presented by Southeast Alberta Health and Education Partners.
