Next week’s job fair at Medicine Hat College promises to be the largest MHC job fair yet, with 36 companies registered to attend. The fair takes place Wednesday, February 29 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
MHC’s Centennial Hall foyer and B-Wing (near Vera Bracken library) hallway will be filled with employer booths looking to hire the right candidates. Companies at the job fair are looking to fill positions for summer, part-time and full-time opportunities. All members of the community are welcome to attend the job fair.
“There are so many opportunities at this fair,” said Shelly Drefs, student career services assistant. “Both students and the public will be see an array of positions they can apply for on site.”
Companies representing a wide-range of fields will be represented. Job opportunities include positions in retail, processing, health care, hospitality, financial, trades and construction, oilfield, transport, police and security, business, administrative, health & safety, summer positions, accounting, marketing, engineering, CADD, first aid instructors, EMR, labourers, food service, maintenance, management, recruitment, and even volunteer positions.
Drefs suggests attendees bring several paper copies of their resumes and dress as they would for an interview.
“In the past we have had many students and members of the public walking away from the event with positions,” she said. “Therefore we suggest that they dress appropriately.”
Additionally, the Government of Alberta-Employment Standards office will be on hand to educate students and job seekers of their rights and responsibilities under the Employment Standards code.
