Austin Curtin to be named Business Person of the Year
April 3, 2014
Local businessman Austin Curtin will be honoured as Business Person of the Year tonight at the annual Medicine Hat College (MHC) Connecting Students to Business Dinner.
Curtin was chosen for the award due to his entrepreneurial spirit, ongoing contribution to the community and natural role as a mentor in the business world. Curtin recently retired after owning and operating several Canadian Tire locations including stores in Medicine Hat, Brooks and Cold Lake, Alberta.
In January 2014, the Canadian Tire Corporation donated $50,000 to MHC’s Enactus chapter in honour of Curtin. In 1997 the corporation presented him with an Award of Excellence. This event was organized by the Business Ambassador Students (BAS) with support from a committee of MHC staff and faculty. The dinner is an annual event that invites business people in the community to connect and network with students.
