Teams announced for the 2014 CCAA Women’s Soccer National Championship

October 30, 2014

The Medicine Hat College (MHC) Rattlers will be one of eight teams competing in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women’s Soccer National Championship- November 5 to 8, 2014 at the Methanex Bowl in Medicine Hat, Alberta.

Terry Ballard, manager of sport and wellness explains that the Rattlers women’s soccer team, led by ACAC Coach of the Year, Jim Loughlin,  has had a strong year, and is very deserving of their sixth place seeding, “They’ve had an outstanding season finishing on top the South standings with a 9 – 1 win/loss record.  The Rattlers earned their way to the championship by winning an ACAC Silver Medal at the Provincial Championships against the #1 ranked team – the NAIT Ooks.  This allows the Rattlers to represent the ACAC at the National Championships not as hosts, but as a legitimate threat to win the event.”

Joining them in the rankings are the NAIT Ooks (1), Elans de Garneau (2), Vancouver Island University Mariners (3), Seneca Stings (4), Ahuntsic Indiens (5), Langara Falcons (7) and the Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics (8).

Admission to the games is free.  Matches begin on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014 and proceed until Saturday, Nov. 8 with the medal presentations and closing ceremony occurring at 7:00 p.m.

“Medicine Hat is a remarkable host city, with wonderful residents. In addition to the obvious positive economic impact, this event will profile and celebrate our great city from coast-to-coast,” explains Jace Anderson, executive director for the Medicine Hat Destination Marketing Organization. “We are ready to welcome the CCAA and all of the teams, and we are sure their visit will be enjoyable.”

The schedule is currently available and regular updates will be provided on the CCAA website as well as on Twitter and Facebook. Games will stream live online throughout the week and can be viewed at www.ccaa.ca/watch-live.
