MHC supports Earth Hour

March 12, 2014

Show your campus pride, help MHC take home the prize!

Medicine Hat College is participating in an Alberta-wide contest called the ‘One Hour, No Power: Campus Challenge’ that invites post-secondary schools to pledge to power down for one hour between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Saturday March 29, 2014. All MHC students and staff are encouraged to get involved in this contest by taking five minutes to pledge their participation in Earth Hour this year.

Taking action on climate change can be as simple as turning off a light switch – and that’s exactly what will be happening worldwide on Saturday, March 29. Every year World Wildlife Fund’s (WWF) Earth Hour sees hundreds of millions of participants, across more than one hundred countries, power down for one hour, sending a powerful message for taking action on climate change.

For more information on this global movement see www.wwf.ca/earthhour. This cross campus challenge is a simple way for Alberta’s post-secondary students and staff to participate in this global movement.

The online competition begins Friday, March 7 across Alberta and includes Bow Valley College, Concordia University College, Grande Prairie Regional College, King's University College, MacEwan University, Medicine Hat College, Mount Royal University, NorQuest College, Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), Red Deer College, University of Alberta and the University of Calgary.
