MHC students compete in Popsicle Stick Bridge Contest

Engineering, computer aided drafting and design technology students are preparing to compete in this year’s Popsicle Stick Bridge Contest for an opportunity to win the Best Design Build Consultant 2013 award.
Each team of up to four members can use only up to 110 craft sticks and white glue to build a bridge that can withstand the highest test load. Points are awarded for design and artistic appearance, highest load/weight ratio and accuracy of predicted failure load.
Local members of Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), The Associations of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET) and industry members will also be on hand to meet and greet with the students. 7:00 p.m. bridge breaking;
Annual bridge-building competition. Bridges are built prior to the event and destructed during the event to see which bridge can withstand the most weight. This year an invitation was sent out to APEGA, ASET and industry members to enter a bridge to the competition.
