MHC hires consulting group to lead presidential search

September 3, 2013

The Board of Governors of Medicine Hat College (MHC) announced in August 2013 that The Geldart Group has been hired to lead the institution’s search for both an interim and permanent president. They are a firm that specializes in executive searches for leadership positions in academia.

Don Bruce, chairman of the board, stated that the decision was made after consulting and engaging with employees and stakeholders.

“In the surveys there were definitely some over-riding themes to the responses. Overwhelmingly, respondents felt that there was indeed a need for an interim president, and the Board concurs with this assessment,” said Bruce. “To ensure that we find the most qualified individual we decided that it would be best to hire a firm that specializes in executive searches for post-secondary institutions.”

Community stakeholders and college employees will be invited to share their ideas and thoughts regarding future leadership for MHC. Public sessions will be held on Sept. 12 at the Brooks campus and the 13 at MHC. Details will be provided at a later date.

The new permanent president is expected to be selected by Dec. 14, 2013, though formal announcements and start date will be later.
