MHC’s Board of Governors seek nominees for honorary degree
December 17, 2015
Medicine Hat College’s (MHC) Board of Governors is currently seeking nominees for this year’s honorary degree. This award is presented to an individual who has distinguished themselves through exemplary service to the college and our region.
This year’s recipient will receive the degree at convocation on Friday, June 3, 2016 and will be celebrated at the first annual Pathways Gala on Saturday, June 4.
“We are seeking nominees who are philanthropic, dedicated to our region, and supporters of education and the doors it can open for any individual who pursues it,” says Dr. Denise Henning, president and CEO.
Dr. Henning explains that this year’s recipient will have a particularly special experience. “Convocation and the gala will be the grand finale to our 50th anniversary. We will be taking this opportunity to not only celebrate our honorary degree recipient but as well our students [past and present], staff, stakeholders and regional communities that have been a part of our first 50 years,” says Dr. Henning. “We are excited to see the nominations put forward by the community.”
Last year’s recipient was Dr. Larry Henderson a retired educator and active volunteer in Medicine Hat. He was the tenth recipient and followed in the footsteps of Rob Renner, Dr. Roy Wilson, Dr. Richard and Deborah Northcott, Bob Porter, Dr. John Moldon, Dr. Ken Sauer, Jim Horsman, Randy Eresman, and Terry Brekko.
The deadline for nominations is January 8, 2016. Nominations and inquiries may be submitted in confidence to Sandy Henderson, executive advisor at henderson@mhc.ab.ca. To download the nomination form visit www.mhc.ab.ca.
