MHC matches business students to local companies seeking marketing support
March 25, 2015
On April 7, 2015, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Courtyard, Medicine Hat College (MHC) is recruiting local companies with well-defined marketing and communications projects to take part in a Small Business Work Term.
The project provides meaningful work experience to third and fourth year students by providing them with experience planning and executing marketing concepts for participating businesses.
“Small business owners often need help becoming more strategic with their operations,” explains Jon Sookocheff, manager of the Entrepreneur Development Centre (EDC). “However, many small business owners lack the resources needed to execute strategic plans.”
This project will help provide businesses with that support.
Thanks to a partnership between the EDC and JMH & Co., companies from Medicine Hat will only need to invest $1000 towards hiring a student from May 4 to August 28, 2015.
“We believe that the Small Business Work Term is crucial to the sustained viability of our small business start-up community,” says Sookocheff. “It’s a way for our students to get a feel for what rural Alberta has to offer in terms of a career in entrepreneurial small business.”
Companies who require assistance in marketing and communications are encouraged to submit their name as a potential work placement using the form available at www.mhc.ab.ca/SmallBusinessWorkTerm.
The event on April 7, 2015 will be an information session to provide further clarity around the project. Lunch will be provided. Companies must submit their form by that date.
