Medicine Hat College (MHC) is excited to host the official Makerspace MHC launch on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 12 p.m. in the Vera Bracken Library.

Live demonstrations will take place showcasing technology that is available for public use, including the Silhouette CAMEO die cutter, 3D printer and art programs like Black Ink and ArtRage 4.

“This is a great opportunity for people to come on campus, meet other makers, and learn more about how this space can benefit them,” says Shawna Murphy, outreach librarian. “Since our soft launch last year, we’ve been adding new technology and really exploring how we can provide an educational experience to those that are at the beginning stages of using the equipment.”

According to Murphy makers can expect new workshops to be introduced in the upcoming year. Currently there is a 3D printer session scheduled for Thursday, September 22 at 6:30 p.m. and die cutter basics for Friday, September 23 at 12 p.m.

“Makerspace MHC provides a lot of opportunities for people to explore ideas, try new things and collaborate with likeminded individuals,” says Murphy. “Whether you are a business owner looking to test drive a product before you invest in it, an artist just wanting to experiment and create, or a student looking to take an assignment to the next level, there is something here for you.”

This event is open to the community and there is no cost to attend.
