The search is on for Medicine Hat College’s next Business Person of the Year and members of the community are invited to nominate an outstanding business leader for this annual award.
The criteria focuses on recognizing an individual or team who resides or operates a business in southern Alberta; demonstrates a strong character and integrity through their success; has positively impacted the lives of others, including but not limited to: mentoring, supporting local programs, supporting local events and charities and sitting on boards; as well as displays substantiated experience as an established future-focused business.
Once selected, the Business Person of the Year award recipient will have the opportunity to share their success story with college students at MHC’s Building Future Leaders: Connecting Students to Business event.
“The Business Person of the Year award holds great value to all stakeholders of the college and especially our students,” says, Karl Schwonik, associate dean of business and member of the selection committee. “Not only do we get a chance to recognize someone in our community who is doing great things through hard work, skill and determination, but we get the chance to inspire our students.”
Past winners constantly interact with the college and play an important role in mentoring students, especially those in the business department, adds Schwonik.
“Our hope is that students can learn from these local successes and use that knowledge to propel their own career to even greater heights upon graduation.”
The nomination process for the Business Person of the Year Award will remain open until Friday, January 26, 2018. The Business Person of the Year will receive their award and have an opportunity to speak at Building Future Leaders: Connecting Students to Business on March 28, 2018. Tickets will be available for purchase online in January 2018.
