All entrepreneurs invited to participate in MHC pitch night

January 10, 2018

Medicine Hat College’s (MHC) Entrepreneur Development Centre (EDC) is hosting the first ever Start Up Company Pub Pitch Night on January 18, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in crave.

This event will provide entrepreneurs and innovators an opportunity to pitch their business or product ideas to a panel of local professionals. A $500 cash award will be given for Best Pitch and proceeds from the $10 cover charge - at the door - will go towards the People’s Choice.

Christie Dick, entrepreneur advisor, encourages participants to think of the value this event provides beyond the monetary gain.

“Come with your energy and idea – even if it isn’t fully developed. There is value in taking this opportunity to get in front of local entrepreneurs and use them as a soundboard. There is power in collaboration, and you could walk away with a new direction or mentor. It’s a casual, fun environment where everyone –students, alumni, and the community – are welcome to participate.”

Prior to the pitches, Craig Elias, best-selling author, award winning entrepreneur in a Global Pitch Competition and founder of 150 Startups will present on the top 10 critical steps needed to turn an idea into a business.

Dick mentions that the pitch nights will be a monthly event from January to April.

“We wanted to create an event that could reach entrepreneurs at the conceptual stage. It’s the perfect opportunity to get feedback as to whether there is a market for your idea, what changes could be made now to strengthen your business later and potentially meet professionals who can help move you forward, whether that be through the services they offer or the advice they can provide.”
