Career Expo returns with new employers and job opportunities
October 10, 2018
Medicine Hat College’s (MHC) Career Expo will return on Oct. 17, 2018 with more exhibitors and new career opportunities from employers throughout Western Canada.
The expo, which runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Centennial Hall, is open to the community. The purpose of this event is to highlight available, or potential employment opportunities and services, for job seekers and students.
“Most times when people are looking for work or contemplating a career change, they don’t know where to start. This event serves as a venue for meeting with human resources (HR) professionals face-to-face, finding out more about their organization and what they do, and getting tips for standing out from other applicants,” says Shelly Drefs, career services assistant with MHC’s Career Centre.
Drefs mentions that there will be many returning exhibitors and also some new companies in industries ranging from cryptocurrency and aviation to housing manufacturing and social services.
“There is a lot of innovative things happening in our region, so this is a great forum for attendees to discover what’s trending and how that may impact the labour market. We encourage everyone to stop by every booth and get to know all of the employers. Although an organization is in the health industry doesn’t mean they won’t be looking for people with expertise in accounting, power engineering, trades or general help to ensure the daily operations of their facilities run smoothly.”
