New dual credit welding program for high school students

September 17, 2018

Medicine Hat College (MHC) is working with local school districts to offer a new opportunity for high school students to obtain dual credits. For the first time, MHC’s apprenticeship welding program is open to students enrolled at schools within the Prairie Rose School Division, Medicine Hat Public School Division and Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education.

“This is an excellent opportunity for students to experience hands-on learning in a college setting while earning credits to fulfill both high school and post-secondary requirements,” says Dennis Beaudoin, dean of trades and technology at MHC.

Students will attend MHC two full days a week and at the conclusion of the course, write the first period welding apprenticeship certificate exam.

Registration is now open and the program will start in early October. To register, students should contact their school counsellor.
