Scholarship and bursary applications are now open for students attending the 2020-21 academic year at Medicine Hat College (MHC).

Over $350,000 is awarded annually through the Student Financial Aid Office to new and continuing MHC students, thanks to the generous support of donors in our community.

Connie Cash, financial aid and awards coordinator at MHC, explains “when a student completes an award application, they are automatically considered for every award for which they may be eligible based on the individual award criteria.”

The criteria for each award is different, depending on the nature of the award and the wishes of the donor. While some awards are a combination of the two, scholarships are based on academic standing, whereas bursaries are typically granted according to financial need.

Cash encourages all students to submit an application, regardless of whether or not they think they will be approved.

“With numerous scholarships and bursaries available through MHC, there are thousands of dollars to be accessed by students to help cover the cost of their studies. We don’t want anyone to miss out on the opportunity to apply for free money!” says Cash.

Students have until Jun. 1, 2020 to submit their application online at www.mhc.ab.ca/Scholarships.
