Medicine Hat College (MHC) is providing the community an opportunity to explore their programs and talk with coordinators, faculty and current students at the Virtual Open House on Mar. 3, 2021 at 5:30 p.m.

Landon Heilman, student recruitment coordinator for the post-secondary institution, highlights the convenience of the virtual environment that provides prospective students the chance to ask questions in small groups and move between sessions of interest with the click of a button. Sessions cover all aspects of the college experience including programs of study, academic upgrading, continuing studies, student life and Rattlers Athletics.

New to the event this spring is the launch of Career Coach – a labour market data tool that connects students with programs and careers of interest.

“The tool provides students a chance to get real-time data on the demand for their area of interest, while showing them the need in the region and the skills required to meet their aspirations,” says Heilman. “This tool is complimentary to the personalized approach our academic advisors take in ensuring our graduates are prepared to enter the workplace, and have a plan to stay competitive in today’s economy.”

According to Alison Pfeifer, student recruiter at MHC, another advantage the community gets when attending the open house is the chance to talk directly with faculty and current students.

“Hearing information about our programs, and life at the college, directly from current students and our instructors provides an authentic perspective of what they can expect at MHC,” says Pfeifer. “We’ve broken the sessions down into panels, individual studies, and general information. Whether you know what you want to pursue or are just starting the process we have the information you need.”

The open house is free to everyone including high school students, recent graduates, mature learners, prospective athletes and parents of children.

During the open house, a discounted rate for applications will be provided – regularly $75, the fee will be $40.
