Rattlers welcome women’s hockey to the roster

July 26, 2022

The Medicine Hat College (MHC) Rattlers are pleased to announce the debut of women’s hockey as a club program for the 2022-23 season.

While not an official member of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC), players will have access to the same events and opportunities as all Rattlers student-athletes. The team will take to the ice this fall with practices and exhibition games and participate in off-ice training.

The decision to trial women’s hockey in Medicine Hat at the collegiate level has been in the making for a long time and the athletics department is excited to have reached this milestone.

“People in this community are passionate about hockey and have been asking about the potential for a women’s team here at MHC,” explains Terry Ballard, manager of athletics and recreation. “We are thrilled to add hockey to our roster as a club team and gauge the interest of our student population with hopes of putting forward an application to join the ACAC women’s hockey league next year.”

Female hockey players attending Medicine Hat College this fall are encouraged to connect with the athletics department for more information.
