Recreation Facilities


The Medicine Hat College Fitness Centre is currently open to current students and employees only.

Fitness Centre Hours of Operation:

  • Monday-Friday 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Saturday*: 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. (except Oct. 10)
  • Sunday: Closed

*Saturday hours are a trial during the month of October and will be re-evaluated depending on usage.

Reserve a Workout Time:
All workouts must be booked in advance. One hour time slots are available throughout the day followed by a 15 minute cleaning/sanitizing period. All other COVID restrictions/precautions are in place.

Monday - Friday workout times: 

  • 8 a.m.
  • 9:15 a.m.
  • 10:30 a.m.
  • 11:45 a.m.
  • 1 p.m.
  • 2:15 p.m.
  • 3:30 p.m.
  • 4:45 p.m.

Saturday workout times:

  • 11 a.m.

  • 12:15 p.m.

  • 1:30 p.m.

  • 2:45 p.m.

These can be booked in person at the Fitness Centre, by phone (403.529.3840 or 403.529.3834) or by email to A maximum of 10 people are allowed to book into each session. A signed waiver is required to access the Fitness Centre and must be completed prior to your first session. You are able to book up to three days in advance.

Gym Access
Currently the gymnasium is closed and only accessible to Rattlers teams during their set practice times. No open gyms are available until further notice.

The gymnasium -- known as the “Snake Pit” when the Rattlers compete--is equipped for basketball, volleyball, and badminton.  In its sporting role, the facility is also used for open recreation and fitness testing.

The space is also used to host events like convocation and large meetings and conventions. Students have access to the gym on a drop-in basis; just check the schedule with staff in the Weight Room.

Fitness Centre

The fitness centre offers students and employees a great venue for strength and cardio training. Users must show college ID, dress appropriately, and follow posted rules and instructions from staff. The equipment room inside the fitness centre will lend you balls, rackets, birdies and offer advice and instruction.

Valid College ID or Activity Pass must be presented when using college fitness facilities.

Monday - Friday: 7 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Saturday - Sunday: 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Winter Hours (January - April)
Monday-Friday: 7 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Saturdays: 11 a.m - 4 p.m.
Sundays: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. 

Spring Hours (May/June)
Monday-Friday: 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Saturday: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Sunday:12 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Summer Hours (July/August)
Monday-Friday: 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Saturday: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Sunday: Closed

Fitness Centre Closures
*Please note, there may be some closures throughout the year due to labs. These notifications will be posted at the fitness centre.
Lockers & Towel Service
The lockers located downstairs in the G Wing are open for fitness centre and recreational users.

Locker rental for year - $30
Towel service for year - $30
Combine the two services - $50 a year (saving $10)

Tennis Courts

Four tennis courts are available on the north side of campus. You can borrow equipment from staff in the Weight Room.

Soccer Pitch

The main MHC soccer pitch on the north side of the campus is the practice and home field for the Rattlers.


The Sunrise Rotary Trail circles the perimeter of the Medicine Hat campus and features 3.5 km of paved trail, fitness equipment and two playground areas. There is also easy access to Kin Coulee Park and additional trails and paths.
