Student art exhibition celebrates Halloween
Medicine Hat College’s (MHC) art and design program is celebrating Halloween with an art exhibition highlighting themed works from current students.Curated and installed by executives and members of MHC’s Visual Arts Student Society (VASS), the show includes artwork from art & design students in each year of the program.
“It has become a tradition each October for VASS to host a Halloween Exhibition of student artwork in the One-on-One Gallery,” says Jessica Plattner, program coordinator and instructor in the art and design program. “This year’s show includes sculptural masks, Vanitas paintings, spooky drawings, scary motion graphics, and more.”
The exhibition runs from Oct. 15-31 and may be viewed during the Cultural Centre’s gallery hours, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A reception will be held on Oct. 24 at 7 p.m., in which community members can also meet the artists behind the work. Complementary refreshments will be available, along with a VASS bake sale.
Attendees are welcomed and encouraged to dress in costume for the event.
