Jodi Parsonage, Instructor
I have been teaching and working in the computer industry for over 20 years. I worked in the computer industry in Medicine Hat and area doing tech support and networking for several years and began teaching part-time at Medicine Hat College shortly after graduating from college myself. I quickly discovered a love for teaching and learning and have been teaching either part time or full time at the college ever since. I also do technical support and maintenance work, primarily on home and small office computer systems and networks.I graduated from Medicine Hat College with honours with a diploma in Business Administration (Microcomputer Major). Throughout my career, I have completed a number of industry certifications including CompTIA A+, Microsoft MCSE (2000), and others. I currently teach the operating system and software portions of the A+ certification and I am particularly focused on helping students obtain their A+ certification. Aside from the content of various courses that I teach, I always try to develop students’ problem solving and troubleshooting abilities. I see these as invaluable skills in the ever-changing world of technology.
My husband and I ranch in the Cypress Hills area and raise Black Angus cattle. Although ranching is a long way from working with computers, I enjoy and appreciate the diversity. If there is one thing that the two areas have in common, it is that there is always something new to learn and that you have to be able to adapt quickly in different situations. We have two sons and we do a lot of horseback riding and ranch work together as a family. We also enjoy a variety of activities such as camping, golf, and skiing.
