My classroom style is a flipped classroom where students learn through prerecorded lectures and other resources before they come to class. This allows more time for the students to build deeper understanding by having more time for practical work in the classroom rather than traditional lectures.
My favorite part of what I teach is working with control systems. I find it fascinating watching students who may have no experience at all with controls as they go through the process of designing and creating a working control circuit. This section really shows the students how much they are capable of and gives them practical skills they can take back to their jobs.
The best thing about learning and teaching at MHC is the small class sizes and the great group of instructors I get to work with. We enjoy the benefit of being able to get to know the students and reconnect with them as they come back year after year.
When you are in my class you can expect me to be tough but fair. I expect my students to be invested in their own education and want to work at improving. I am completely invested in my students’ successes, not only in school, but I want them to be successful in the field as well. I always do my best to provide ample opportunity for students to have individual help with whatever they need.
When I am not teaching, I am always working on a project of some sort. I love building things and tinkering with technology. Doing puzzles and solving problems are what makes me happy.
