Began teaching at MHC: 2006
Leana Forsyth is a dedicated educator and experienced nurse. Since joining Medicine Hat College in 2006, Leana has focused on sharing her passion for nursing with her students. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes intentional, high-quality education while fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment that encourages critical thinking and active participation.
Leana particularly enjoys teaching topics related to maternal and community health, where she can share her nursing experience and passion for nursing with her students. Students can expect engaging learning experiences that challenge them to think deeply and develop essential skills for their future careers.
Leana loves teaching at Medicine Hat College because of its strong sense of community. She values the opportunity to teach smaller classes, which allows her to connect more closely with her students while also supporting community partners.
Beyond the classroom, Leana is actively involved in research focused on innovative teaching and learning strategies, including the use of simulation to enhance nursing education. She believes in lifelong learning and strives to inspire the same passion in her students.
When she’s not teaching, Leana loves spending time with family and being outdoors with her horses and dogs.
